Low Back Pain & Disc-Related Discomfort
Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek out chiropractic care. This page is a general, educational overview and is not intended to diagnose any individual’s low back pain or identify its cause for a specific person.
Common, general contributors to low back discomfort
In broad, lay terms: prolonged sitting, repetitive movement or lifting, general muscle tightness or strain, restricted joint mobility, and — for some people — issues connected to the spinal discs, including bulging or herniated discs. Naming these patterns is not a diagnosis and not a claim that any service treats a herniated or bulging disc for a given individual. These are general categories, not a diagnostic checklist.
When people typically seek chiropractic care for low back pain
People commonly look into care when discomfort persists beyond a few days, limits everyday movement, seems connected to a specific activity or posture pattern, or when someone wants to explore non-surgical options. Discomfort that seems to travel from the low back into the hip or leg is also a common reason people seek an evaluation, though that pattern can have a range of underlying causes and should be assessed individually. This is not a diagnosis of sciatica or any nerve condition; only an in-person evaluation can determine the cause.
A general, non-diagnostic look at how chiropractic care may help
Chiropractic adjustments are generally used to help address restricted joint mobility in the low back. Spinal decompression using KDT is designed to reduce compressive pressure on the spine and the discs, and is often discussed specifically in the context of disc-related low back discomfort. Shockwave therapy may be brought in for localized soft-tissue involvement. Because low back discomfort frequently involves a mix of factors, these services are often used in combination.
This is general information about how these services are commonly used. It is not a guarantee that any service will cure, eliminate, or resolve low back pain or disc-related discomfort for any individual, and not a substitute for an in-person evaluation.
